Public Transit:
AC Transit's Line 51B has a stop on University Avenue right behind the club and connects to the downtown Berkeley BART station. Line 49 and trans-bay Line Z will get you close the pedestrian walkway that crosses the freeway and leaves you with an additional 15-20 minute scenic walk to J-Dock.
Bicycling Directions:
Unless you're towing a boat or carrying a windsurf board, the best way to SailBerkeley is by bicycle. The Bay Path runs along the shore and will take you from Richmond or Emeryville. If you're coming from farther away, take BART to the North Berkeley station and follow the bike route down Virginia, through the Fourth Street mall and over the bridge to the Marina. SF riders may prefer to exit at West Oakland and ride up the Mandela Parkway. Lock your bike in front of the Harbor Master's office right behind the Hana Japan restaurant.
Driving Directions:
From SF, Oakland, and other points south of Berkeley Marina: exit 80 at Powell, take left lane, turn left under freeway, and turn right just after underpass to go north on west frontage road. Continue on west frontage road through stoplight and 1st stopsign to 2nd stopsign at University Ave (Seabreeze Cafe on left). Turn left on University Ave to head west toward the bay. See rest of instructions below.
From Richmond and other points north of Berkeley Marina: exit 80 at University, and turn right onto University Ave to head west toward the bay.
Once you're heading west toward the bay on University: Get in the left lane, and at the stopsign ("T" intersection), turn left. A few hundred feet down the road you'll see a Bait Shop and Hana Japan restaurant on your right. Turn into that parking lot, park there, and you'll see J-Dock right there.
If you drive past the Adventure Playground or end up by the Berkeley Pier, you drove too far. All in all, it's only about a half mile or so from the freeway.
