The SailBerkeley Mission
----
To provide high performance and aggressive sailing experiences on the SF Bay.
----
If you're looking for a casual sail where you lounge on the foredeck leisurely nursing a glass of wine, gazing into the sunset and sharing stories with your shipmates about your last trip to the South of France, we can't help you.
But if you would like to clip into a harness and slice through large swells beating into high wind as you sail past all the other boats retreating to the marina after the announcement of a small craft advisory from the Coast Guard - then welcome to SailBerkeley.
----
Sail it like you stole it.
----
At SailBerkeley you won't just walk away with a brief overview - you will learn the ins-and-outs of aggressive sailing.
We'll start with the basics - no experience required - and move up from there to mastering the subtleties of even the most exotic techniques.
SailBerkeley is the only sailing instruction program in the Bay Area set up to teach students live on-the-water solo sailing in a keelboat (a.k.a. keelboat single-handing.) But that's just the beginning.
You'll learn to sail a boat backwards, without sails, with extreme heel, when run aground, without crew, and without a rudder.
And you'll learn all this not by reading about it in a text book or by listening to a lecture from an instructor in front of a white board, but rather by actually doing it.
********************************************* SailBerkeley's International Clientele
